He traveled from the center of the universe, heading for the edge. He reached the most distant star, because one of them has to be the most distant. He passed the bodies orbiting the star until he reached the outermost of those bodies. A stream of subatomic particles extended into the beyond, and he passed them, too. He kept going until the light shining forth from the far distant universe was nothing more than a speck, and then he continued until the speck had utterly vanished.
He winked himself out of existence, and, in doing so, he found his home.



Whenever I come upon the word 'Immortal', I uneasily think of the heat death of the universe. Or at least our iteration of our universe...

As always, your last sentence is the "clincher," Douglas! This one lends itself to several interpretations, notably Buddhist.
I have long argued that science fiction can be a vehicle for philosophical discourse. This drabble supports my contention.
