I didn't watch, I was working on some edits but the TV was on. From time to time, I looked up, disbelief on my face, like: what did he just say? .... no surprise, really....

The only surprise for me was how badly Trump missed his opportunities to exploit Harris’s actual weaknesses. He usually goes straight for the jugular. But Harris totally threw him off his game when she talked about people in his rallies getting bored and walking out. After that, he was on the defensive for most of the remainder of the debate.

What we saw KAMALA do to TRUMP was pure HARRISMENT. And fun for the whole family.

I agree. In fact, I was surprised at how poorly Trump handled himself. Given Gaza, inflation, and immigration, Harris SHOULD have been more vulnerable, but Trump was clearly unprepared. The comment on immigrants eating dogs and cats provoked the obvious rejoinder: "That's your ass, talking. Your mouth knows better" -- although in Trump's case, this may be wishful thinking.

All of which is well and good, but I still fear the outcome in those swing states. Harris will win the popular vote nation-wide, but will that be enough to propel her to the White House?

Trump seemed to come in with one strategy: hammer down on the idea that illegal non-white immigrants are evil criminals who are destroying the country. That seemed to be his fallback whenever he didn't want to answer the question that had been asked. Thing is, a large percentage (half? more?) of voters resent darker-hued immigrants as much as he does and are willing to believe all of the trash Trump has been spewing about them.
